At 180 hectares, Barking Riverside is one of London’s largest regeneration sites. The completed project features an Envac vacuum waste collection system: a revolutionary new technology that features a network of vacuum sealed pipes running under the development, into which rubbish and recycling is dropped at ground level to be transported at speeds of up to 40mph to a purpose-built refuse site.
The system, already operational in Bergen and Stockholm, drastically reduces requirement for roadside collections and the associated pollution and health risks.
Anderson’s responsibilities on this ground-breaking project included providing bulk earthworks, fill, RC frame, drainage, services, a pumping station, plus soft and hard external works.
More about Envac systems"I was delighted Anderson secured the sub and superstructure package with L&Q, which they have safely delivered to time, quality and budget. Sincere thanks to all concerned."
