Chitts Hill, Stanway

Chitts Hill in vibrant Essex, will form a community of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes close to the bustling town of Colchester.

The Hopkins Homes development in Stanway was formally arable farmland. It will include 100 homes – of which 26 are designated affordable housing.

Anderson’s work has involved establishing the site’s infrastructure – completing a small S278 works to form a bell mouth and providing pedestrian access, as well as adoptable roads and footpaths.

Drainage works include off-site foul water connection to gravity sewer, connecting to a pumping station, and surface water attenuation pipework below carriageways. Work also include a new storage pond with associated headwalls.

Other work involves lime stabilized 300mm thick pile mat construction, piling, steel reinforced ground beams, substructure brickwork, finished with insulated block and beam floors, all associated drainage and external works.

Anderson worked in partnership with Blackwells on groundworks including cut and fill, and ground stabilisation.

Project Manager for this development is Rob Deans and the average number of Anderson staff on site each day will be 20.
